These last three weeks I have learned a lot of active reading strategies and have had growth with what I learned before English 110. While annotating the first part of emerging, They say, I say, Gilberts piece of work, and Brooks piece of work I have not only learned different annotating strategies but used some that I have learned previously. When I annotate,I usually highlight and write some notes in the margin but from what I have learned in the few weeks I have been in this class that there are many other strategies when it comes to analyzing and annotating the text. Now when I read I summarize some of the paragraphs for when class discussions come up and I can go back quickly to the text and be on the same page as my peers. I’m also glossing the text for any words that I don’t know and looking them up in a dictionary so that I understand every piece of the reading. These strategies will not only help me for the duration of this class but for any courses I take in the future.
