What I have learned about quotes and Barclays formula in the past few days has been more than I have learned in my past English classes. I have learned that there are two different types of quotes. long and short quotes. When doing short quotes you must put your citation before the period whereas when there is a short quote it goes after the period. I have also learned that when adding a quote into your paragraphs you must make a “quote sandwich”. You introduce the quote than you add the quote in and then you explain the quote after. This adds more of a connection to your piece. What I will to keep in mind when I add a quote into my writing is to make sure that I don’t add silly quotes that don’t make sense with the topic. I will keep a happy medium when it comes to my ideas and the authors ideas so that it flows through my piece of writing.

Yes, you want every quote to have a purpose in helping you make your argument. No silly quotes or frivolous quotes! Good.
