After reading Daniel Gilbert’s, Reporting Live from Tomorrow, Gilbert introduces a specific idea that I definitely agree with. Individuals that have a lot of money can give you happiness but others may seem unhappy. On page 182 it says that when people that are on the poverty line or are not able to provide for their family recieve or are able to make more money than they were able to are happier. Once these individuals reach higher classes the happiness level decreases. On page 182 it says, “ Americans who earn $ 50,000 per year are much happier than those who earn $ 10,000 per year, but Americans who earn $ 5 million a per year are not much happier than those who earn $100,000 per year (Gilbert, D).” This passage has changed my thinking by learning that individuals don’t care how much money they have, they care about being able to take care of their family and be able to live life to the fullest with a decent amount of money. I definitely wholly accept this idea and wouldn’t change it because money is just a materialistic approach to make people happy but if people abuse the amount of money they have it can gradually make people unhappy. This “material” can make people happy in a positive way by getting people out of the unhappy lifestyles but it can also lead to a life that isn’t healthy.
