Framing Statement #2

The significant writing project example I used that greatly shows my abilities to use quotations is the globalization section essay. My argument in the essay is to show that we need to keep ties with other countries strong in order to gain resources at the end of the day. From learning how to use quotations in English 110 and from knowledge from previous English classes I know that the quote needs to be introduced and then explained at the end. We were taught to make a quote sandwich; introduce the quote first then add the quote (the main body of the sandwich) and then explain the quote at the end. This supplies the reader with what the quote is going to be about and how it adds to your thesis. When picking a quote for my argument I look through the articles that we have talked about and decide what they have for an argument. Then I decide what sentence in the article best describes my argument and if it gives enough evidence for the reader to conclude how I am going with my thesis. In the beginning, with my first essay, I rarely introduced the quote which doesn’t help the reader to understand the quote and it made the essay choppy. Now I use the tool of color-coding each part of the quote so that I cover each section of the quoting process. As you can see in the globalization first draft, I used red to show that I introduced the quote about Appiah and then I used yellow to show that I added the quote and lastly I added blue to show that I explained what the quote meant. I have attached the final draft globalization and the highlighting exercise.
